There is something about not knowing exactly what a session will look like that keeps young people engaged. A change in setting, an unexpected moment, even a small giggle over who has the more interesting backdrop that day. It sounds minor, but it matters. Novelty invites curiosity, and curiosity is often the first step toward confidence.

At RYTC, creative arts are never just about the skill itself. Theatre builds the courage to be seen. Film gives young people a way to tell their own story. Music offers an outlet when words are not enough. All of it sits on top of something more important: positive mental health.

Confidence rarely arrives in one big leap. It builds session by session, through small moments of engagement, expression, and being met without judgement. A young person does not need the perfect environment to grow. They need consistency, encouragement, and space to be spontaneous and creative in a way that suits them.

That is what we offer at RYTC. Wherever a young person is starting from, of course they can build the confidence to move forward.
